The Story

Fruitful Tree came about in many forms and facets, but if I had to narrow it down to the most important, I would say that God is kind, He is faithful, and He will do the work.

It took me a long time to understand this spiritually because, for any assignment God gives us, He desires our willingness first. Not our resources or belief but surrendering ourselves in obedience.

I remember sitting at home, hearing people tell me, "If you want to be a writer, just write." I realized that this was the easy part. Consistency can be learned, adapted to, and developed over time. But the favor of God is given, not earned. Not only did I want God hand over this project, but I also wanted to be consumed by His leading, His intentionality, and fruitfulness I knew only He could provide.

It was a constant practice of setting my mind on God, who is able, willing, and capable of far more than I am. It was the vulnerability of me at the end of the road. It was walking into the unknown without fear. This desperation awakened the ground that God needed to draw me into the depths of Himself.

Simply put, it is our response to God’s invitation of growth and sanctification. It is a heart moved like Abraham’s, to go and go early, with only a word, trusting that God will provide the sacrifice.
