What Does God Have to Say?

This week, I spent time reflecting on various thoughts that crossed my heart and mind. I often consider what God might want to convey through my life experiences, with the intention of summarizing His messages and sharing them with you. Whether you're an avid reader or someone who enjoys receiving a text on Monday morning, I see this as ministry—and I cherish walking alongside you and witnessing the Lord at work in our lives.

This week’s devotional will be no different. As we settle into the New Year and embrace a new season, I believe God is revealing greater truths to us.

Here are a few that have been on my heart:

  1. God is calling us higher.

  2. The battle is fought with faith.

  3. Close the door to the enemy and open the door to freedom.

  4. Those who hunger and thirst for righteousness will be filled.

  5. The Word of God is our shield.

I will briefly share what these mean to me and to believers in Christ.

God is Calling Us Higher

As you reflect on your life this year, you may notice areas where you feel God is pulling and tugging at your heart. This could be a desire to spend more time in prayer and worship, serve in your church, give tithes, or let go of old habits. Developing these new rhythms in your life could make the difference in you soaring in Christ. If this resonates with you, consider it a sign that God is inviting you to move higher. It requires offering your full self to Him, trusting Him to lead you, and in doing so, you will experience a greater reward - deeper fellowship with God.

The Battle Is Fought with Faith

The truth is, as believers, we are in a spiritual battle, ongoing and real. But we are not called to fear; we are called to stand firm in faith. Revelation 12:11 reminds us, “They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.” Our weapon is our faith in Jesus and His testimony. We plead His blood over our lives, finances, relationships, homes, and everything that may come against us. Remember, Jesus has already won the victory.

Close the Door to the Enemy and Open the Door to Freedom

If there are areas in your life where the enemy has gained access through, such as unforgiveness, idolatry, false worship, fornication, pornography, bitterness, envy, sexual immorality, gambling, drinking, gossip, etc., I challenge you to close these doors this year. Don’t gratify the desires of the flesh. Instead, turn to Jesus and walk by the Spirit, so you can experience true freedom and receive all that God has prepared for you. Moving forward with open doors only allows the enemy to reenter.

Hunger and Thirst for Righteousness

If your desire is to draw closer to the Lord this year, I encourage you to seek Him earnestly. Hunger and thirst for His presence in everything you do. Ask Him to meet with you regularly, to satisfy your spiritual hunger, and to guide your steps into righteousness. Cultivate a deep relationship with Him, one built on the fruits of the Spirit. Keep this desire alive, not just in moments of desperation, but as a continuous pursuit.

The Word of God Is Our Shield

God’s Word is unchanging and true. To go higher, fight your battles with faith, close the doors to the enemy, and stay hungry and thirsty for the Lord, you need the Word of God. It is the only thing that will sustain you. Pick up your Bible, don't just rely on your phone, read it for 10, 20 minutes, or longer each day. Ask the Lord to help you fall in love with His Word, to speak it, live it, and see His promises come to pass in Jesus’ mighty name. The Word will never fail you; it will follow you all the days of your life.

I pray that you are encouraged to take action this year. Don’t just talk about growth, truly desire to grow in a way that allows God to make you whole. As I reflect on my own life, I realize that just a few years ago, these things seemed impossible. I felt ill-equipped and unmotivated. Yet, I had a desire to see the Lord move in my life. So, I took steps closer to Him, trusting Him to lead the way. Each step brought me back to the feet of Jesus, the One who cares not just about what I can do for Him, but about who I am to Him.

If you would like prayer in any of these areas, please don’t hesitate to reach out. If you’re seeking strategies on how to overcome obstacles and soar higher in the Lord, I’m here to help. Feel free to text, email, or call me anytime. I would love to support you on your spiritual journey.
