Mine

I remember the days

I can still feel the warmth in your arms when the sound of pain hit the pavement of your chest
You never asked for words, or anything much or less

I still remember your Friday night hamburger dinners and every meal you adorned in love
Still never wanting anything in return
Only quality time, your favorite chair and hugs

You would sit and ask me to braid your hair
Those were the times I remember most because all of my cares had left

I remember the sound of your skirt when you walked into a room
So elegant yet humble
Everyone would recognize it was you

Ms Mary they would say
But to me you were like a mom
A quiet respectful approach
Never complaining only wanting what’s best for everyone

My babies you would say
And all my fears would fade
Oh, the joy of hearing an angel
On a quiet Sunday morning

Grandma you are one of kind
A lady of wisdom, love, and a sound mind
And I will cherish all of these moments
Because you were mine

Mine to love
To hold
To keep
To laugh and smile
To pray
To sleep
