What I find most beautiful about God is the mystery of His character—a character I am learning to fully understand, but find deeply intriguing. Everything He says about Himself either has happened, will happen, or is currently happening. He can say one thing, and it can resonate with your past, present, or future circumstances because all His words are true and never return void.
Take, for example, Psalm 23:4:"Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me."
This is a verse I learned as a child, though I understood little of the depth of God’s words at the time.
It is one I repeat often today when I need reminding that God is with me and for me, no matter what I am facing. And this will be the verse I recite in the future as a reminder that God has gotten me through every battle and will still show up.
This is why God tells us to meditate on the Word daily. Our minds need to be renewed by the truth, not by the lies spoken by the enemy and the world around us.
Even if it is just one small scripture, ask the Lord to bring it to your remembrance each day so you can begin to see God's character show up in ways you've never seen. You will also begin to believe, not just with words or in your mind, but by aligning your heart to walk in this truth.
If you believe that when you are walking in your lowest point (the valley) in the shadow of death, you will fear no evil, imagine the confidence you can walk with knowing that God is your comforter and walks beside you.
I think this is the beauty of God: to not only read His Word, but to see it being revealed right in front of us. Imagine what God can do through simple prayers and spoken truth in your life daily as you begin to take Him at His Word.
Prayer:
God, help us this week to depend on You through Your Word. Guide us to meditate on scripture daily, even with just a small verse, so we can begin to trust You and see Your power revealed each day. Transform us to be like Jesus, who did not rely on his own understanding but believed every word You spoke. Help us have faith that surpasses all understanding, for Your name’s sake and for our lives. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
