The Name of the Lord is a Strong Tower

God, in His majestic glory, reveals Himself through His nature and through His Word. Everything we see and know reflects His essence. When God speaks, His words carry truth and power, and He cannot go back on what He has spoken because God cannot lie.

The Bible is the written Word of God, inspired by the very breath of God Himself. So today, we look at what God has said with truth and reverence. We can rejoice that when God speaks, His Word will come to pass, both now and forever. His Word will always remain.

Proverbs 18:10 says:

“The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe.”

Here, the phrase “strong tower” is a metaphor showing that God’s name—“the Lord”—is a place of strength, safety, and protection. This reflects who God is: our refuge, our shelter, and our defender.

Have you ever desperately needed help? Have you ever felt abandoned, hopeless, or unsure of what to do? It’s in those moments that we call on the name of the Lord—“Jesus, Jesus, Jesus”—and things begin to change. God is showing us through this Scripture that there is power in His name, and that when we run to Him, we are safe.

We are held in His care and His love. His name surrounds us like a fortified tower, shielding us from the storms around us. God always provides a way of escape for His people, and in this passage, He reveals Himself as that escape. His name is not just a label, it is active, living power. He protects, guides, and covers us.

God is the Good Shepherd who protects His sheep. He is the Gatekeeper who goes ahead of us and leads us securely. We find safety when we believe that the name of the Lord is our helper and sustainer in every season and every situation. Everything we need is found in His strong tower.

Jesus has laid down His life so that we can experience His protection from harm. He has the authority to command peace and to strengthen us. He is our Rock, unmoving and unshakeable. When we trust in His name, our foundation becomes secure and firm enough to anchor us through every battle. We can depend on His name as our constant source of strength and support. And I can testify from personal experience…He will come.
